2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Name, email address, and password when you create an account
- Resident names and basic profile information entered by facility staff
- Photos, notes, and updates uploaded through the platform
- Messages sent between family members and facility staff
- Payment information (processed by Stripe — we never see or store card details)
Information collected automatically
- Log data such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited
- Device information such as operating system and screen size
- Usage patterns to help us improve the platform
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Kinligo platform
- Authenticate your identity and keep your account secure
- Connect family members with the correct resident and facility
- Process payments and send billing-related communications
- Send important service updates and notifications
- Respond to your support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information to serve advertising, and we do not sell personal data to third parties.
4. How We Share Your Information
We only share personal information in the following circumstances:
- Within your authorized group — family members can see information about their own relative; staff can see residents within their assigned facility. No one can see data outside their authorized scope.
- Service providers — we use Supabase (database and file storage) and Stripe (payments). These providers process data on our behalf under strict data protection agreements.
- Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
- Business transfers — if Kinligo is acquired or merges with another company, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you in advance.
5. Important Notice: We Are Not HIPAA Compliant
Kinligo is not a HIPAA-compliant platform. Do not use Kinligo to store or transmit protected health information (PHI) as defined under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act — including clinical diagnoses, medical records, prescription details, or other regulated health data. Kinligo is a communication and coordination tool, not a medical records system.
6. Photos and Files
Photos and files uploaded to Kinligo are stored in private, encrypted storage. They are never publicly accessible and are only visible to authorized users within your facility or family group.
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or billing purposes.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted storage, secure authentication, and access controls that limit who can see resident data. However, no system is perfectly secure. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately at hello@kinligo.com.
9. Children's Privacy
Kinligo is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@kinligo.com and we will delete it promptly.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Deletion — request that we delete your personal data
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Objection — object to certain types of processing

11. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. 12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date means you accept the updated policy.
